CNY 2014: Day 2

CNY 2014: Second Day (年初二)

After having our breakfast, we heading to Viva Home for 100 Doraemon Secret Gadgets Expo. Doraemon was one of the comic and cartoon series that I read and watched since l was small. Doraemon not just meant for my generation or the generation before, this cartoon still famous till today. Well, since we were in KL, we just paid a visit to the expo and let my Little Ze had some fun before the expo ends.

Take a picture before we went up to the Viva Home Expo Hall at second floor.

Look at the queue!

While waiting, we took some photo at the front of the hall.

“Knock! Knock! Anybody there?” I love this mini door. We had to knock at the door to redeem the Space Figurine.

At the entrance.

Just a brief info about Doraemon. Created by Fujiko Fujio. Doraemon is a cat-trpe robot born on 3rd September, 2112. He came with Sewashi, Nobita’s great-great-granson, from the 22nd century. His role is to help Nobita by using his secret gadgets from his fourth-dimentional pocket. On the other hand, he is also scatteredbrained… Doraemon is Nobita’s guardian and best friend. His favorite food is dorayaki. What does he hate the most? Tell you later.

We were entering the time machine tunnel.

Then we reach at Doraemon Factory. Have you ever seen a yellow Doraemon? Yes, Doraemon was originally yellow in color.

One day, the poor fellow had his ears bitten off by a robot mouse while its in the factory. That’ is why Doraemon hates mice. Oh I’m sad! (Pretending) And my Little Ze hug me and said “Mummy, don’t cry! I love you!” My heart melted.

Doraemon depressed, he cried and cried and cried, until his tears washed off his original yellow paint, revealing his now iconic blue body!

Entering the 100 Doraemon display area.

Lot’s of tanglungs. Full of CNY mood!

We walked through the "Anywhere Door" (任意门), a door that opens up to any place the user wishes.

The first figure we could recognize was this.

This gadget allows you to crop out your shadow. Your shadow then will replace you to finish your works, From time to time, it will absorb your knowledge. After 2 hours, your shadow will totally replace you. Little Ze knew this gadget because he watched this episode before.

Little Ze wanted me to read the description of each figure with him. Oh dear! It was 100 figures! Can you imagine that? Luckily after covering 50% of the figures, he wanted to go washroom. We stopped reading after that.

Baby Hang loved this. It can come up with a variety of gadgets just like the real Doraemon but all the gadgets is smaller as well. It suits Baby Hang!

Baby Hang: Let me hold your hand.
Gadget: Ok! No problem!
Look at Doraemon's reaction....

You are so cute! Let me touch your face.

Here were some of the photo taken with the figures.

Then, we proceed to Church and comic area.

After that, we reached at the playground and Nobita’s room. Haha..imagine ourself in the world of Doraemon. We immerged ourself in the world of Doraemon with a recreation of scenes and locations from the cartoon.

There was a game area but we did not stop for that. Then, we reached at the collectible items area. We collected our photo taken at the booth here. We bought a mug and some postcards as collection. We did not buy much as the merchandise was quite expensive.

After having fun in the exhibition, we stopped at the Doraemon Café to try out Doraemon’s favorite snack, Dorayaki, Memory Toast and Doraemon-themed pancakes and drinks. I would say the food was overpriced and bad in taste. The pancakes were so dry and hard.

And do you notice there were ‘something’ on the Dorayaki?

The only food that taste better was Taiyaki.

Other than that, the cafeteria’s tables and the floor were dirty. May be there were too many people during holiday.

There was another Giant Family Store next to the cafeteria that sells exclusive Doraemon merchandise. We didn’t bring any home.

If you ask me how’s the exhibition? My answer will be ‘so-so’. Well, at least my Little Ze had some Doraemon joy. That’s good enough.

At night, we had our reunion dinner with our family. Uncle and aunties, cousins, kids and baby ... 4 generations gathered. Everyone was happily enjoyed the dinner, especially grandmother. She was so happy and had a great day!
